The Institution shall be run by a Council that direct and manage the affairs of the Institution. The Council shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of the Articles of Constitution and By-laws.

The Council shall consist of the following:
(1). Officers of the Institution - President (Fellow of B.I.G.)
Vice-President (Fellow of B.I.G.)
Secretary-General
Treasurer

(2). The Chairperson and Secretary of sectional Committees of the Institution;

(3). The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees;

(4). The Chairperson of the Examination Board;

(5). The Ex-officio member mentioned in By-law 2.4;

(6). Three (3) Fellows of the Institution, (each representing the three sections, namely,
the Land Surveyors and Geographical Information Managers Section, the Real
Estate Section, and the Town Planners Section); and

(7). The Editor of the Geomatics Newsletter / Journal.

All officers and members of the Council, except the Chairperson of the board of Trustees, the Chairperson of the Examination Board, and the Editor, shall be elected or appointed annually in the manner as prescribed in the By-laws of the Institution.
