1. Land Surveyors / Geographic Information System Managers
As Geomatics is the science and study of spatially related
information and is particularly concerned with the collection,
manipulation and presentation of the natural, social and economic
geography of the natural and built environments, the section
seeks to strengthen its membership whilst engaging fully in
technological and economic developments in Brunei Darussalam.
We believe that the Land Surveyors / GIS Managers Section
acts as the 'infrastructure of the infrastructure' , and,
through new and burgeoning areas such as geographic information
science, fulfils an increasingly important role in the economic
and environmental development of society.
2. Urban and Rural Planners
With all the current members are working in the government
sector, the section can develop its strength as a centre of
planning and development expertise for members and also for
the outside world.
3. Property and Asset Managers, Real Estate Managers
The interests of this section exist within all types of
property. Its purpose is to support the professional issues
concerning members (Land Valuers, Land Economists, Land Officers,
Property and Asset Managers, Real Estate Managers, etc).
4. Economic Analysis of the National Economy
The Institution can also conduct a wide range of economic
analysis to examine the latest developments in the Bruneian
economy, as well as those in specific land and property markets
that members of the institution practise in.
We can conduct regular surveys of our members, giving it
the ability to provide timely and accurate information on
conditions in the major property markets. Special research
can be undertaken into a wide variety of land and property-related
issues, and the resulting economic effects.
5.Research proposed by the Institution
The Institution can set up a Research and Consultation Advisory
Board to undertake and publish a wide range of research undertaken
on a variety of land and property issues. These projects can
be co-funded by Government agencies or other relevant organisations.
Research projects can be identified by the Board, government
department or by the Sectional Committee of each section.
Issues that can be researched into can include application
and management of spatial information, survey control, planning
and development issues, current housing market review, property
market trends, land use and land value, sustainable development,
land use pattern and land market, urban renewal and regeneration,
to name a few.
The Institution will maintain a database on professional
and research articles on the interest of the profession.
